Coming from Howell Mountain, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Eagle Summit Vineyard (100% Cabernet) is another terrific looking barrel sample. Still aging in new French oak, it has classic Howell Mountain blueberry and cassis fruit, lots of leafy herbs, and a distinct minerality to go with full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. As with the Rutherford release, it has terrific purity of fruit.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Steffensen Vineyard comes from the Coombsville AVA and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that’s aging in 95% French and 5% American oak. Graphite, camphor, blackberry, blueberry and spice notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, pure, balanced, certainly outstanding Napa Cabernet.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Steffensen Vineyard is 100% varietal and comes from a site in the cooler Coombsville region of the valley. It reveals the standard saturated purple color that’s common in this vintage as well as perfumed and lifted notes of crème de cassis, plums, crushed violets, incense and licorice. Rich, medium to full-bodied, nicely textured and pure, it has plenty to love as well.
